Community Collaboration for Children
KRFDC's Community Collaboration for Children (CCFC) services are designed to be community-based services that promote the safety, well-being, strength and stability of children and families. CCFC prevents the abuse and neglect of children.
Services address children’s physical, mental, emotional and educational needs while providing families with the help they need to prevent removal of children from the home and move toward healthy long-term safety and stability.
CCFC staff oversee supervised visitation with families, conduct family team meetings, and provide intensive in home services. Participation in the CCFC Program is voluntary. Following a discussion with the referral source about the program’s services, the family needs to consent to participate.
The KRFDC worker, together with the referral source, will work with each family to help meet their specific goals.
Services are provided in the KIPDA RURAL REGION of Anderson, Bullitt, Franklin, Henry, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, Trimble and Woodford Counties, the BLUEGRASS FAYETTE REGION of Fayette County and the BLUEGRASS RURAL REGION of Clark, Boyle, Estill, Garrard, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, and Powell Counties.
KRFDC staff provides Supervised Visitation in the regions of BLUEGRASS RURAL, BLUEGRASS FAYETTE, and KIPDA RURAL to families whose children are in DCBS custody, with the goal of reunification with their biological parents. There are many situations when the need arises for a neutral third party to supervise visitation between a parent, or another party, and a child or children. Supervised visitations are held in a warm and friendly environment for the family, such as the family’s home, church, library, playgrounds, or visitation rooms at DCBS or other agencies that have a home like setting with age appropriate activities.
We strive to make an already difficult situation as easy as possible by treating each party with respect and assisting in any way we can to help meet their case goals. Our staff provides coaching and mentoring for parents in all areas of need to ensure family stability and reunification.
In the regions of BLUEGRASS RURAL, BLUEGRASS FAYETTE and KIPDA RURAL KRFDC staff conduct Family Team Meetings (FTMs), to bring families, agencies and community partners together to resolve issues that exist within the family. FTM services can be referred by DCBS, any community partner, or self-referred.
All FTMs are related to safety, permanency and well-being. The first meeting will establish a general direction of safety, permanency and well-being for the child that each participant supports. During Family Team Meetings family members discuss goals and collaborate with community agency partners to develop a strength-based action plan to help achieve those goals. FTMs are a place where families and community partners can support each other during crisis situations.
FTMs are held in the least intrusive environment for the family, such as the family’s home, church, library, comprehensive care, a friend’s home, schools, etc.
In the regions of BLUEGRASS FAYETTE, BLUEGRASS RURAL, AND KIPDA RURAL KRFDC staff provides Intensive In-Home Services; an intensive, short-term home (target of five to ten hours per week per family for four to six weeks) based interventions that are aimed at assisting families in learning to live together in an environment that is safe and nurturing. Referrals can be made by any community partner, DCBS, or they can be self referred.
Along with services, CCC requires a Regional Network in each service area of BLUEGRASS FAYETTE, BLUEGRASS RURAL, AND KIPDA RURAL. The Regional Network has established goals of child safety and family stability and is comprised of community partners and parents who work together to reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect. The primary responsibility of the network is to reach out within local communities to build the awareness of the importance of prevention of abuse/neglect of children.
Most meetings are monthly. To find out more about the networks in your area, you may call Kristy Hudson or the Regional Network Coordinator for your region.
