HOPWA

Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS provides housing and supportive services to individuals/households living with HIV/AIDS.  Program staff provide support services for clients and their families who have lost or are about to lose their housing due to financial problems or otherwise unsuitable housing conditions. Other services can be provided based on the needs of the individual.  

Person living with AIDS/HIV are frequently medically indigent and find themselves in financially precarious/unstable housing situations as a result of their illness. Foothills will collaborate with program participants’ health care providers to assure quality services are consistent and ongoing.  Eligible persons must have HIV/AIDS and meet income guidelines.

* Provides rental assistance, security deposit assistance, case management, transportation, medical assistance, budget/credit classes, food assistance, heating/cooling assistance, utility assistance, educational assistance, GED preparation and referrals.

Serves Clark, Estill, Garrard, Lincoln, Madison and Powell Counties.

Foothills currently has three full-time Case Managers and one part-time Case Manager. Each Case Manager is assigned clients based on geographic location to their home and current caseload and typically has 15-20 clients at a time. In addition to their current caseload, Case Managers have ongoing contact with persons seeking housing and other forms of assistance.
