Community Food & Nutrition Home

Welcome to Foothills Community Food and Nutrition Website

Through a statewide nutrition education program, staff of the Community Food and Nutrition program develop comprehensive resources and conduct workshops on such topics as child nutrition, food and nutrition among the elderly, establishing an emergency food pantry program, volunteer management, family nutrition issues and grassroots organizing.  The materials, used as models for replication across the state, provide practical, easy to follow advise to social service and nutrition specialists as they tackle hunger issues in their own communities.

In each of the Agency's Head Start centers, Head Start children and their families receive nutritious breakfasts and lunches that help set the tone for healthy eating later in life.  Children develop knowledge about nutrition, manners and making proper eating a habit.

Foothill's senior programs serve hot, nutritious lunch and home delivered meals as part of a comprehensive range of activities and services designed for the mature adult.

Children who attend the Richmond Child Care Center are provided two nutritious snacks and a hot lunch in accordance with USDA guidelines.
